How Does It Work ?

We are already in 2017, in a day and age where technology keeps improving and moving forward at a dizzying pace. Technology is everywhere in our lives making it easy to get lost sometimes. My goal is to help you stay connected, stay protected, or get started. With the rapid progression of technological crimes and scams, I want you to be comfortable locating and identifying red flags and to stay safe online.

If you are in the Ottawa (Ontario) region, simply get in touch with us through our Contact Page and mention what kind of training you are looking for and we will be happy to see how we can help you! In exchange for a free tech seminar, we simply ask that you donate a discretionary amount to ALS Canada (really, anything you can afford to donate to a good cause), using our tracking page.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • We offer group training only so we can help as many people as possible
  • Training will only take place when we are available, which will almost always be on Saturdays
  • We can schedule a one-time session or more sessions depending on availability
  • No equipment is required although students are encouraged to bring their own laptops to the session
  • I cannot at this time provide computers to students to learn / practice with
  • Classes can be given both in French or English
  • Seminars will only use Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10 as reference to keep things easier for everyone. Most of the principles taught will also apply to Mac and Linux.
  • All the information provided is for educational purposes only!
  • Offers and classes can change without notice

Why ALS?

Someone very dear to me was diagnosed with ALS and fought like a champion for more than 2 years.  She has now lost her fight. Seeing first hand what this disease does to a loved one and the way it affects friends and family, I decided to get involved with ALS Canada in the hope that no one has to go through any of this. The recent Ice Bucket Challenge was very good to raise ALS awareness, but I want to take it a step further.

My goal is to raise $25,000 for ALS Canada. It will be my pleasure to give my time for free and help further educate anyone who wants to learn about the world of computers and technology. All that I ask in return is that you donate any amount to ALS Canada and help me reach my goal. If all you can afford is $5, I will be $5 closer to reaching my goal. Tax receipts are available for people who donate $20.00 or more.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your help and support.

What Do We Offer?

You will learn the basics of email, how to protect yourself and eventually create your own email account.  Emails will enable you to contact your whole family and stay in touch at the click of a mouse.  You will learn about phishing and online scams and how to protect yourself!  GMail by Google will be the host used for the newly created email accounts.  Contact us for more information.
You will explore some basic usage for today’s most common social medias: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  You will learn how to safely use them, how to protect your information and learn about what you should or should not share / post.  Contact us for more information.

You will learn how to setup and protect your network at home to protect and secure your wireless connection.  A seminar can be as basic as securing your ready-out-of-the-box home router from Bell/Rogers to configuring your own.  This subject goes well with “How to setup your home network”.  Contact us for more information.
You will learn how to setup your network at home, using either a router that you have purchased yourself or one provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).  We can look into setting up a very powerful and open-source DD-WRT router and how to secure it or simply creating a home network and providing Internet access to all the PCs in the house.  This seminar goes well with “How to setup and protect your WiFi”.  Contact us for more information.
Looking for something that was not mentioned?  Want to combine multiple subjects?  Send us a message and we can work something out!
